Shira 2 Camp Kilimanjaro is a high-altitude campsite located on the expansive Shira Plateau of Mount Kilimanjaro at approximately 3,850 meters above sea level. The camp serves as an important overnight stop for climbers trekking along the Lemosho Route and Machame Route.
Surrounded by open moorland terrain, volcanic rock formations, and sweeping views of Kilimanjaro’s slopes, the campsite provides trekkers with a key acclimatization point as they ascend to higher elevations. From Shira 2 Camp, climbers typically continue toward the Lava Tower and Barranco Valley, gradually adapting to the altitude while enjoying the dramatic landscapes of Mount Kilimanjaro’s alpine zone.
